Nike Golf’s Tiger Woods is 2-for-2 for 2008

Birdies five of final seven holes to claim Dubai Desert Classic

TORONTO (February 3, 2008)—Nike Golf’s Tiger Woods won his second straight start of 2008 in very different fashion Sunday, birdieing five of his final seven holes to win the Dubai Desert Classic.

Last week, in his first tournament of the season, he coasted to an eight-shot victory at the PGA Tour’s Buick Invitational, his fourth consecutive title at that event, and his 62nd PGA Tour crown.

Tiger’s seven-under 65 on Sunday left him out of reach of every competitor after starting the day four back. A dramatic birdie on the final hole sealed the victory.

Bogeys at holes six and nine had threatened Tiger’s charge, but a chip-in on the 12th fueled his confidence.

“I just happened to catch one of those lies,” he said after the trophy presentation. “I was just hoping it would come out soft. I hit it hard, hoping I would kill it and it came out soft as can be.”

With the win, Tiger has won his last four official tournaments and six of his last seven, dating back to the WGC Bridgestone Invitational in August.

Tiger clinched his victory with a SasQuatch Tour 8.5-degree driver, a SQII 15-degree 3- wood and a 19-degree SQII 5- wood. He rounded out his bag with Nike blade irons, a Pro Combo 56-degree sand wedge and an SV Tour 60-degree lob wedge. He made all those birdies with the new Nike One Platinum ball with Nike Power Transfer Technology.
