Nike Golf athletes win Open Championship and U.S. Bank Championship in playoffs on same weekend

--Stewart Cink wins first major at Turnberry, and Bo Van Pelt captures first PGA Tour event   --New Nike Golf Prototype putter  wins two major championships in a row

TORONTO (JULY 20, 2009)--Nike Golf athletes dominated the world of golf on the weekend with two victories: Stewart Cink captured the Open Championship and Bo Van Pelt won the U.S. Bank Championship.  With 14 Nike Golf clubs in his bag, Cink won the first major championship of his career by defeating Tom Watson in a four-hole playoff, the second straight win in a major by a Nike Golf athlete following Glover's victory in the U.S. Open.

Using the new Nike Golf Prototype putter, Cink made a dramatic birdie putt of 12 feet on the 72-hole for a 69 and two-under 278 total that catapulted him into a four-hole playoff with Watson.  It was the second straight win for the new Nike Golf  Prototype putter in a major championship.Lucas Glover also used the new Nike putter in winning last month's U.S. Open, as has Paul Casey in his three 2009 victories.

Cink played flawless golf in the playoff, starting with two pars and finishing with two birdies to win by six shots--the largest margin in this format--and capture the Open Championship. It was Cink's fourth PGA Tour title and moved him to No. 9 in the world rankings.

Cink's arsenal   Cink put on a ball-striking clinic on Turnberry's windswept links with his Tour ONE ball, SUMO SQD Tour driver, Pro Combo OS 2-4-iron, 5-PW CCI Forged irons, Victory Red wedges (52-, 56- and 60-degrees), and SQ2 fairway wood (15-degrees).  Van Pelt made a three-foot birdie putt on the second hole of a playoff to defeat John Mallinger and win the PGA Tour's U.S. Bank Championship in Milwaukee.

Van Pelt shot a final-round 64 for a 13-under 267 to force the playoff and win the first PGA Tour event of his career.  He relied on the new SQ DYMO driver to average 308.4 yards off the tee, and shot down the pins with pinpoint accuracy with his Pro Combo 4-PW irons to finish T3 in greens in regulation.

Van Pelt's arsenal also included a Victory Red wedge (52-degrees), an SQ2 fairway wood (13-degrees), and a SUMO hybrid (18-degrees).
