Nike Golf's Tiger Woods wins BMW Championship for 71st career victory

Woods` victory brings to 14 the number of global wins by Nike athletes in 2009

TORONTO (September 14, 2009)--Tiger Woods trounced one of the best fields of the 2009 PGA Tour season by eight shots Sunday in winning his sixth event of the year and the 71st victory of his career.   The victory moved Woods within two victories of Jack Nicklaus who has the second most career victories behind Sam Snead. He also tied Snead with his sixth season with at least six victories.

Woods` victory brings to 14 the number of global wins by Nike athletes in 2009.

With a course record 62 on Saturday, Woods vaulted ahead of the field, taking a seven-shot lead into the final round. On Sunday, Woods put an exclamation point on the victory, firing a 68 to finish at 19-under 265, eight shots ahead. It was his 10th career victory by at least eight shots.
Woods' sixth victory likely sewed up another PGA Tour player of the year award; no one else has won more than three times this year.

Using the combination of his Nike Golf Forged Blades and ONE Tour ball, Woods was knocking flags down, hitting 69.4 per cent of greens in regulation to T4.

He wielded his SQ DYMO driver to average 306.4 yards off the tee. Woods converted 100 per cent of his sand saves to T1. Woods carries the Victory Red 56-degree and SV 60-degree wedges.

The victory assured Woods of the No. 1 ranking going into the Tour Championship, the final event of the FedEx Cup, and its US$10 million prize. Nike Golf athletes Lucas Glover and Stewart Cink also advance to the Tour Championship.

Nike Golf's Stephen Ames and Bo Van Pelt both finished T15th at three-under 281.
