Nike Athlete Suzann Pettersen wins Sybase Match Play Championship

Pettersen wins with Nike Golf's New 20XI Ball

TORONTO (May 23, 2011)--Relying on the new Nike 20XI-X golf ball, Nike athlete Suzann Pettersen won six straight matches over 103 holes in the Sybase Match Play Championship to capture her seventh LPGA Tour career title.

The victory brings to 10 the number of global tournaments captured in 2011 by Nike Golf athletes. Pettersen is now ranked second in the Rolex Women's World Golf Rankings.

In a grueling week of competition, Pettersen was knocking the pins down and crushing drives with the Nike 20XI-X golf ball. The new ball features game-changing resin core technology that is faster and lighter than traditional rubber cores, which results in longer distance and more controlled shots.

"I don't think there's any course on Tour we play where you have to hit so many long irons into par 4s," Pettersen said about the 6,585-yard Hamilton Farm Golf Club in Gladstone, New Jersey.

With the highest MOI in a golf ball, the Nike 20XI resin core technology reduces driver spin and increase wedge spin, all ingredients that assisted Pettersen in the damp, windy and cold conditions.

Also highlighting her Nike Golf arsenal were the Nike VR Pro Combo irons, the same irons that Nike athletes Charl Schwartzel and Lucas Glover used for their wins at The Masters and Wells Fargo Championship, respectively.  With these winning irons, Pettersen is currently ranked third in greens in regulation on the LPGA Tour, averaging 75.5% with the Nike VR Pro Combos.
