Swoosh Looking Strong on the Tube

If Nielsen had ratings for logos showing up during weekend broadcasts, the Swoosh would be scoring high numbers.

Tour victories by Nike Golf Tour staff players Tiger Woods and K.J. Choi, and some great golf from staff players such as Stewart Cink, Justin Leonard, Stephen Ames and others continue to give Nike Golf heightened exposure.

“I think the kind of year Nike has had on Tour so far is a pretty telling statement about their product quality,” says Rick Young, Canadian golf business writer and equipment expert.

Retailers are noting Nike Golf’s success on the PGA Tour in 2008 is boosting the company’s profile and sales, especially among younger golfers.

“The apparel and footwear continue to do well for us with all of our customers,” says Jay Wiele, Manager of Golf Town’s location in Hamilton.

“The younger generation are the ones gravitating towards Nike equipment, and year by year that seems to get stronger based on Tiger and what’s happening at the pro level.”
